About The Club
Located on the Pacific Highway in the leafy surrounds of Warrawee, The Warrawee Club is a friendly local club with a difference.
The Club brings together three distinct activities — lawn bowls, croquet and the social Club — providing a place to play, meet people, celebrate and enjoy time with friends and family.
Just a short walk from Warrawee Station, the Club offers a relaxed community atmosphere without poker machines.
1907 — And The Beginning
The commencement of Warrawee Bowling Club is recognised as 1 April 1907, when the newly prepared sporting facilities were opened for play. Bowls, cricket and tennis were available for families of people living in the area.
Cricket lasted until World War I and tennis until just after World War II. Thus, for many years, only bowls was played and in those days just for the men, until the 1970s when the Warrawee Women’s Bowling Club was formed.
A Club That Evolved
Croquet had been played by the ladies many years ago, but in the 1980s the Warrawee Croquet Club was formally established. Today, The Warrawee Club offers members and visitors the opportunity to play men’s, women’s and mixed bowls and croquet.
Our club has a growing number of active members playing bowls or croquet, with two bowling greens and one croquet green. Play is available most days.
A Legacy of Volunteers
Warrawee, like any organisation, consists of many parts and each of these must function for the organisation to progress. The majority of activities within the club are carried out by willing volunteers. The range of tasks is considerable, and willingness to take on these tasks has always been a characteristic of our members. The club could not survive without this attitude.
The Club is now over 119 years old. It has changed constantly over that time, adapting to changing member and community attitudes.
Today we remain a vibrant community club for everyone, continuing our support for members, those just visiting and our local businesses.
